Eligibility
Student game artists looking to be involved with the event should submit their works ahead of time during the submission period. From those submissions, finalists will be accepted based on a blind judging process involving the event’s advisory board, a group of students, and faculty from officially participating programs of study.
Criteria
We require that all artists submitting to JoyArt follow these criteria:
-
Applicants must either currently be a student or were enrolled in any accredited program of study within the last six months.
-
With the exception of the Game Implementation category, all artwork involved with a submission is the independent creation of the singular applicant.
-
Artwork must be made without the aid of AI art generators or related tools.
-
Artwork must be game art; that is, a reasonable case can be made for a piece to be involved in the conceptual or development of an interactive media format.
-
Artists must be available to exhibit their artwork in person at the finalist event on February 24th, should their submissions be chosen as a finalist in their category.
Artists are allowed to submit art pieces to as many categories as apply to the work; artists are encouraged to submit as many art pieces as they would like, so long as they do not violate these general criteria.
Dates
Finalists will exhibit their work at an event at the WPI Seaport venue, 303 Congress Street in Boston, MA, from 5:00-8:00 on February 24th.
